An updated version of KWordQuiz was released today as part of KDE SC 4.6. It contains a few important bug fixes.

There are a lot of flashcard sets available at quizlet.com. Most of them can easily be imported into WordQuiz and KWordQuiz.

Locate the set you are interested in on the Quizlet web site. When viewing a flashcard set click on the Export button at the top of the list.

Use Tab as the Word-Def Delimiter. Use New Line as the Def-Word Delimiter. Click Select All in the Data box. Copy to clipboard.

In (K)WordQuiz, create a new vocabulary and select Paste. The program will automatically calculate and add rows if needed.

Change the column titles and save the new vocabulary.

KWordQuiz 0.9.1 released with KDE SC 4.5

A new version of KWordQuiz was released today as part of the Edutainment module of KDE SC 4.5.

The new version has some interesting new features. You can now use images and sounds in your vocabularies. These features will be expanded even more in future releases.

There is also a simple tutor mode. For now, it can only be invoked from the command line. Run ‘kwordquiz –help’ for instructions.

KWordQuiz is now included in the kdeedu module of KDE. That means that KWordQuiz will be distributed with KDE 3.3 when it’s released in August 2004.
